LUNAR Legislative Alert 4/27/2003

Time to Respond to ATF NPRM Extended

Back to Legislative Alerts page.
From: "Mark B. Bundick"
Folks, please pass the word among your members that per the message below
from John Lawrence on our legal team, the deadline for responding to NPRM
Notice No 968 has been extended to Friday, June 13, 2003.

If you've not yet sent in comments, you have more time to draft, review
and send those comments.

Please also remind your members that responding to the NPRM is critical
to both our judicial and legislative efforts. A strong showing of support
by responding in opposition to the ATFE's NPRM is a good thing, so please
encourage members to respond.

Cheers, Bunny

I was finally able to speak with a human being at the ATFE -- Megan
Moorehouse (202) 927-8058. She confirmed for me that ATFE will be
publishing the extension that was announced on their website
(http://www.atf.gov/press/fy03press/041103comments.htm) in the Federal
Register. Unfortunately, now that ATFE is part of DOJ, any Federal
Register notice must first pass through ATFE officials and then through DOJ
officials. Hence there is some delay in getting things published in the
Federal Register.

All that said, our new due date for our response to the NPRM is Friday,
June 13, 2003. As soon as I see the Federal Register notice I will pass
it along as well.

Keep the faith.

John Lawrence
